This past week, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 finally launched for Xbox, PC, and Game Pass users, but the takeoff wasn’t as smooth as everyone hoped. The reception was a bit rocky, to say the least.
The developers over at Asobo Studio quickly acknowledged the bumpy start, issuing an apology and following up with a new update. This latest patch, rolled out across "all platforms," including the Xbox Series X|S, brings the game up to Version 1.1.9.0. This update focuses on smoothing out stability and performance issues as well as fixing some pesky bugs. Here’s what’s included in the patch:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 1.1.9.0 Release Notes
For those playing on PC, there’s a note of caution. Outdated packages in your Community Folder might negatively impact how the game performs, possibly leading to crashes or extended loading times. If you’re experiencing any of these issues, try moving your Community packages to a different folder before firing up the game again. Here’s a quick summary of what’s been improved:
Stability & Performance
- Resolved a crash occurring when "As Arrival" was selected in the EFB.
- Fixed a crash triggered when closing and reopening the Camera menu after adjusting the Drone focus mode to a non-default setting.
- Addressed various other crashes throughout the game.
General Bug Fixes
- Corrected the missing cursor issue in the Xbox Live sign-in popup.
- Fixed the problem where users could lose focus while creating a new input profile.
- Aircraft selection can now be accessed via the control menu and altered only from the home page.
- Solved an issue where players could get stuck while navigating the menu bar from any help page.
As the team mentioned, feedback on various issues can be shared on the official Flight Simulator 2024 forums.
