The story unfolds with Kay Vess, who gets roped into a clandestine task by Governor Thorden from Toshara. Her mission? Infiltrate a high-stakes Kessel Sabacc game and earn a coveted prize. Of course, there’s a twist—an even more secretive game brewing under the radar. This isn’t your everyday Sabacc; it’s invite-only, meaning Kay will need to muster all her charm and wit to score an entry.

Once you’re seated, the familiar Kessel Sabacc basics remain: you’re pitted against opponents to create the best hand using blood and sand cards in a sequence of three turns. But, if you run out of chips, you’re out of the game. On Morenia, EY-E9, a Protocol Droid, hosts these tense matches. Unlike other tables, shift tokens—tools often used for tactical advantage—are banned here. EY-E9’s rules guarantee everyone has a fair shot.

While outright cheating isn’t sanctioned, pulling off clever moves without getting caught is a thrilling part of the game. The staples include magnetic dice, Lando Calrissian’s signature double draw (letting you snatch two cards at a time), or having Nix, Kay’s trusty sidekick, spy on your opponents’ hands. However, Nix is adapting to the lively crowd of Wild Card. This time around, he can slyly plant cards on other players, causing them to be accused of cheating and potentially getting them booted from the game.

Typically, players would nab an extra card, then discreetly return it to hide the cheat. Machin suggests pairing it with Nix’s ability to plant a card on others—keep your hand strong and potentially get someone else ejected at the same time.

He also emphasizes the importance of gathering intel on your opponents during your stay on Morenia. Understand their habits, and you might expose their cheats. Building a good rapport with the syndicates aboard can also pave the way for Kay to secure her table spot.
