If you’re diving into the gaming world, you simply can’t ignore platform giants like PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. Right now, I’m challenging myself to face off against Godzilla and, well, just survive!
Let me be honest: my feelings about Fortnite are all over the place. Remember its first year? Those were the days—every match was this wild mix of skill levels, where anything could happen and every loss still felt like a win somehow. But that raw chaos has faded. Nowadays, instead of facing real opponents, it often feels like I’m up against bots who make it way too easy, almost as if they’re offering themselves up on a silver platter. The game’s once-enigmatic storyline, open to personal interpretation, is now replaced by quests and a constant stream of characters bombarding you with standard video-game lore. And don’t even get me started on the endless parade of characters from popular franchises—it feels less like Fortnite and more like a corporate crossover hub, straight out of a sci-fi novel.
Yet, despite its changes, Fortnite still has a grip on me. Few games make me feel so connected to the virtual terrain; I can practically feel the ground beneath me as I run, slide, and leap around the map. Even on my toughest days, there’s something soothing about logging on, ticking off those daily quests, and racking up some quick XP. And let’s not forget about Fortnite’s knack for pulling off mind-blowing spectacles that leave most other games in the dust. Take the current Godzilla event—seeing him in action, with his imposing scale and power perfectly captured, is just astonishing. I’m gearing up to spend more time than usual this weekend, not just to check out this monster but to feel that rush of danger, the adrenaline of evading something truly terrifying. So, if you’re on the Fortnite battlefield this weekend and you assume the role of Godzilla, and you spot me scrambling around below like an ant—please, spare me. I promise I come in peace! — Carolyn Petit
