The anticipation is building for when we might finally get a sneak peek at Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls 6. According to one insider, the first real glimpse might come as soon as July 2025. This insight surfaced amid a broader discussion surrounding the next installment of the beloved Elder Scrolls series, hinting at a host of exciting features that fans can look forward to.
Despite Skyrim celebrating its 14th anniversary this year, its much-anticipated sequel remains elusive. June 10 marks seven years since the initial TES 6 teaser made its debut, a brief visual featuring only pre-rendered clips. Bethesda has kept details under wraps, partly because their attention was largely focused on launching Starfield up until late 2023.
Rumor has it that this drought of information might soon come to an end. The YouTube channel of Extas1s, a reputable leaker within the Xbox community, speculates that Bethesda could provide an update as early as this summer, according to unnamed sources. Specifically, July 2025 is tipped as a potential unveiling date for the first substantial look at TES 6.
However, this timeline could seem overly optimistic. While the game was officially announced in 2018, it spent much of the ensuing seven years in pre-production. Active development only kicked off in October 2023, in the wake of Starfield’s September release. Given the extensive development period for Starfield, dedicated largely to revamping Bethesda’s Creation Engine, a summer 2025 reveal for TES 6 seems ambitious—but not wholly impossible—since this title is anticipated to have a quicker turnaround.
Intriguingly, Extas1s mentioned that TES 6 might feature over a dozen major cities, marking a rich, expansive world for players to explore. Returning fan-favorites, like dragons, are expected, alongside a more organic leveling system that emphasizes activity-based progression over traditional classes. The game might also introduce naval battles and a shipbuilding system reminiscent of Starfield’s mechanics. It’s noted that the game world might be set in Hammerfell and High Rock, as previously rumored.
If a summer 2025 showcase indeed happens, it would likely signal Bethesda’s intention to release TES 6 towards the end of the current console life cycle or the dawn of the next. As of June 2023, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, suggested during Microsoft’s dealings with Activision Blizzard, that TES 6 is “a game that’s five-plus years away,” setting expectations firmly in the years to come.
