A well-known Fortnite leaker has given fans a sneak peek at an unreleased handcuff cosmetic that might have been shelved during development. Fortnite has a reputation for rolling out cutting-edge cosmetics, especially through collaborations with other franchises. Yet, not all concepts make it to the finish line; some intriguing ones get left behind.
The latest offering from Epic Games is Chapter 6, Season 2 of Fortnite, which is flooded with heaps of exciting updates for players to dive into. The developers have breathed new life into the battle royale genre with fresh locales, weaponry, and mechanics exclusive to this season. Players can now use explosives to crack open bank vaults, securing powerful weapons and unique currency for use on the black market. True to form, this update also brought a plethora of brand-new skins for players.
In a recent Twitter post, the popular dataminer ShiinaBR unveiled six potential designs for a handcuff-themed cosmetic that might make an appearance in Fortnite’s battle arena one day. However, the game currently lacks any mechanics linked to handcuffs, leading to speculation that the concept was scrapped. The designs vary significantly, ranging from simplistic gold models to high-tech or magical versions. Many fans drew parallels to the long-rumored, yet unreleased, weapon charms, which also seem to have been abandoned. It’s not unusual for early designs to pop up in game files, only to get canned later in development.
Surprisingly, some cosmetics appear out of the blue without any prior leaks, as was the case with the recently launched Moments in Fortnite. These can be found under the music category in the locker and provide a new use for Jam Tracks. Players can set a tune for either their “intro” or “celebration” slots, treating themselves to original or licensed music as they leap from the Battle Bus or celebrate a victory. Many fans have enthusiastically embraced this new feature.
Not all new cosmetics win over the community, though. Take Kicks, for example. While some players loved the idea of outfitting characters with different shoes, they’d been less enthusiastic about the price tags on the Nike and Adidas collaborations. Some shoes go for as much as 1,000 V-Bucks—or $8.99 in real money—even though some outfits cost just 800 V-Bucks. This has led to some frustration, as players find themselves paying more for an accessory than the skin it’s paired with. Despite these ups and downs in the cosmetic department, fans are eagerly jumping into Chapter 6, Season 2, to see what else the popular battle royale has in store.
