Logitech is breathing new life into its Powerplay series of wireless charging accessories with a refreshed version of the Powerplay mouse pad. The newly unveiled Logitech Powerplay 2 mouse pad is coming in at a more affordable price point and features a sleeker design compared to the original 2017 model. Best of all, it maintains compatibility with Logitech’s existing Powerplay lineup, ensuring gamers can make the most of their current gear. While the first Powerplay debuted at $119.99, this updated version will retail for $99 when it hits the shelves on March 11.
The Powerplay system brings a unique offer to the gaming accessory market by providing continuous wireless power to various Logitech mice, eliminating the need for recharging. This innovative system works through a discreet puck that slots into the mouse, drawing power directly from the mouse pad. For the Powerplay 2, this puck pairs seamlessly with 10 different Logitech gaming mouse models and adds minimal weight. Personally, I’ve been using the Logitech G502 X Plus with the original Powerplay pad since 2022, and the convenience of not having to recharge it even once is a game-changer.
Visually, the Powerplay 2 doesn’t stray far from its predecessor, but it’s slightly more compact, featuring a surface of 344 x 284 mm compared to the previous 321 x 344 mm. It’s also been slimmed down to just 1.3 mm thick. However, one of the key improvements is a 15% larger charging area, and the switch from a micro-USB to a USB-C connection—both welcome enhancements in today’s tech landscape.
Since adopting the Logitech G502 X Plus with the original Powerplay pad last year, I’ve enjoyed uninterrupted gaming sessions without worrying about charging. The Powerplay 2 might appear to be an incremental upgrade, but I’m thrilled Logitech is committed to enhancing this innovative accessory rather than discontinuing it, unlike Razer’s Hyperflux mouse, which had a brief stint in 2018.
