In the realm of Avowed, treasure maps often come with their own set of quirks, and Practical Pockets is no exception. Unlike typical maps, this one from the Emerald Stair doesn’t guide you to the treasure directly. Instead, it provides a viewpoint from where the treasure resides.
Fortunately, the treasure isn’t that far off and you’ll encounter only a handful of foes, a refreshing change from the perilous trails of the Painter’s Regret treasure map in the region. While it won’t boost how much you can carry despite boasting a significant number of pockets, it does offer some noteworthy resistances.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the process of uncovering the Practical Pockets treasure map, tracking down its hidden treasure, and highlighting the rewards that await.
### Discovering the Practical Pockets Treasure Map
To get your hands on the Practical Pockets treasure map, head to The Gifted Magpie in the southwestern part of Fior mes Ivèrno. The shop is perched atop some stairs and offers an assortment of grenade items, ideal for stocking up before you venture into the wilder areas of Emerald Stair, priced at 660 skeyt.
### Cracking the Practical Pockets Puzzle
The map reveals the rear view of a dilapidated stone tower with a square base. If you’ve roamed around Fior mes Ivèrno, you might recall there’s just one location fitting that description—the Ranger Headquarters. Located northeast of Fior mes Ivèrno, the path encircling the Rolling Crags beacon is blocked by xaurips, but you can easily circumvent or temporarily disregard them.
Instead of walking up to the rangers’ tower, take the path winding around the hill to the northeast. You’ll be heading for a small nook nestled in the cliff beneath a canopy of lichen and towering blue mushrooms. Crack open the chest inside to unearth Hjilde’s Handy Hide.
This armor set, much like the Stelgaer’s Price you score from the Intimidating Feline Codpiece treasure map in Dawnshore, is fully equipped with some impressive features.
### Attributes of Hjilde’s Handy Hide
Hjilde’s Handy Hide comes enchanted, and while poison might be the predominant threat in Emerald Stair, you’ll soon face adversaries brandishing fire, frost, or shock attacks. Given that Hjilde’s Handy Hide starts as a Fine quality item at the second level, it’s wise to keep this armor ready for use, tempting as it might be to sell it.
