The new GPU roll-out is set for tomorrow, though you won’t be able to snag the Founders Edition just yet; expect that by late March instead.
## NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 FE Official Release Pushed Back
It’s been announced that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 FE GPU launch has hit a snag. While details aren’t officially from NVIDIA, Andreas Schilling shared in an email update from NVIDIA that the release has been delayed. While the embargo on the RTX 5070 reviews was just lifted, fans hoping for the official launch tomorrow will have to wait a bit longer.
According to reports from the editor at Hardware Luxx, NVIDIA reached out with the news just a few hours before the reviews embargo was lifted. So, if you were planning to snap up the Founders Edition of the GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, chances are you won’t see it on the shelves right away. There’s no word on how this might impact the launch of AIB editions, but from what we’re hearing about general availability, it seems stock might be limited.
> Thinking you can get your hands on a GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition tomorrow? Well, NVIDIA told us just 2.5 hours before the review drop: “The RTX 5070 Founders Edition will be available later in March.” – Andreas Schilling 🇺🇦 🇮🇱 (@aschilling)
This situation might mirror the paper launches we saw with the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and the RTX 5070 Ti. Various outlets have already published RTX 5070 reviews, revealing it performs roughly on par with the RTX 4070 Super. Although it doesn’t offer drastic performance improvements, its $549 price tag could still be seen as reasonable.
If you’re unable to find it at the suggested price, consider biding your time for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 GPUs, releasing on March 6, with reviews dropping a day earlier. These GPUs are priced at $599 for the XT version and $549 for the standard version, positioning the RX 9070 as a direct rival to the RTX 5070.
The specifics of the delay remain unclear, though rumors swirl about a bug impacting performance as well as supply hiccups. However, NVIDIA has yet to provide any official reasoning.
While the wait for the Founders Edition stretches on, we hope AIB custom models will still pop up around the globe. Just yesterday, some retailers like B&H Photo Video listed the GPU at an MSRP of $549 for both the base and OC models. If you see the AIB versions creeping over $600, you might want to hold off unless there’s no similarly powerful option available locally.
