Get ready to blast off into adventure as The Binary Mill, a creative indie XR studio, gears up to bring their exciting mining escapade, “Into Black,” to the PSVR 2. This tantalizing mash-up of space exploration and resource scavenging, much like “Deep Rock Galactic,” will soon venture beyond its Quest exclusivity.
Originally released for the Quest in October, “Into Black” invites both solo players and teams of up to four to embark on an epic journey. Here, the name of the game is resource collection, tool upgrading, and ship repairing. Adventure through more than 20 distinct levels, each showcasing unique biomes. Players will face a variety of adversaries as they piece together what’s needed to make a daring escape from a hostile alien realm.
Adding fuel to the fire, the PSVR 2 release is spicing things up with the introduction of ‘Singularity’ mode—a competitive online arena. In this Player vs Player vs Environment showdown, you’ll find yourself pitted against up to 11 other space miners. “Striking temporary alliances might just be the key to survival in these shifting mazes. But remember, the greedier you get, the trickier your escape could become,” warns the studio, teasing the high-stakes nature of this mode.
Excitingly, “Into Black” isn’t just making a jump; it’s getting a full-on makeover for PSVR 2. Expect dazzling remastered environments and eye-catching enhancements like dynamic lighting, realistic shadows, HDR, and even eye-tracked foveated rendering. The game will also take advantage of PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and PSVR 2’s immersive haptic feedback, promising a more enveloping experience.
As of now, it remains unclear whether PSVR 2 and Quest players will be able to enjoy cross-play. We’ve reached out to Binary Mill for clarification on that front.
While we eagerly await the full trailer reveal of PSVR 2’s enhancements, the studio has teased us with a few images and some dynamic gifs. These visuals provide just a sneak peek of the upgraded experience that awaits.
Although a specific release date has yet to be unveiled, The Binary Mill assures us it’s coming “soon.” Until then, eager adventurers can wishlist “Into Black” on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, readying themselves for a new kind of cosmic challenge.
