Schell Games and Innersloth are shaking things up with an exciting update to Among Us VR, which came out in 2022. The big news? They’re adding flatscreen support, allowing gamers on VR and PC to seamlessly team up through crossplay.
In a fresh twist, the game will undergo a bit of a transformation and rebrand as Among Us 3D. This new version will debut a first-person perspective for PC players, offering a new way to experience the paranoia-filled fun.
Schell Games assures fans that Among Us 3D will enable PC users to dive into cross-platform lobbies, mingling with VR enthusiasts on various platforms like Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets. However, it’s worth noting that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the classic 2D Among Us from 2018, sticking with the separation established when the VR version first landed in November last year.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to bring the first-person angle to a broader crowd. Merging VR and PC players offers even more opportunities for those delightful betrayals. Now, your entire crew can get a taste of the chaos!”
The rebranding process will unfold over the coming months, with updates gradually appearing across various online platforms and in-game branding. Among Us 3D will also introduce an intriguing addition: a currency named ‘Stardust.’ Players will use this to snag cosmetic items, which will, in turn, fuel the game’s growth.
While a definite launch date is still under wraps, the anticipation is building since Among Us 3D is set to make an appearance at the Steam Next Fest. This gives eager players a chance to get a sneak peek through an exclusive early demo. Keep your eyes peeled!
