Square Enix has announced that the upcoming season of Foamstars, named “Party Goes On!”, will be its last. This final season is set to run from December 13, 2024, to January 17, 2025. After this period, the developer plans to pause any further seasonal content development for this multiplayer shooter.
### Wrapping Up Foamstars Seasons Next Month
Even though there won’t be any more seasonal updates for Foamstars, don’t worry! The game will still be fully playable, and Square Enix is actually bringing in some exciting new features once this last season is complete.
In the upcoming update, players can expect expansions that enrich the gaming experience. You’ll be able to customize character shots and explore new enhancement elements. Square Enix is incorporating these changes to ensure players will “continue to enjoy the game for the foreseeable future,” signaling that Foamstars isn’t disappearing anytime soon.
Once the curtain falls on the “Party Goes On!” season, a new series of in-game events called the Foamstars Cup will kick off. This event will take over from the current Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe and Ranked Party Lonestar, introducing the Foamstars Cup Freedom League and Legend League in their place. Each Cup will be themed around a particular Foamstar and will change every four weeks. Players can look forward to earning rewards like items and icons inspired by these characters. Both events promise daily excitement.
Moreover, Season Passes that were previously released will become accessible to everyone after January 17, 2025. This means both returning players and newcomers can choose any past Season Pass to progress through at no extra cost. Keep in mind, though, that only the basic Season Pass is free; the Premium Pass still requires payment. If you want to unlock specific rewards, you can purchase certain tiers within the Season Pass.
As for the game’s challenges, expect a bit of a shake-up post-season. The current Limited Time challenges will transition to Event challenges. These events will split into Daily Challenges, which refresh every day, and Event Challenges, which update every Saturday. Weekly challenges won’t see major changes, but they will now rotate every four weeks instead of the usual five.
Foamstars made its debut in February 2024 for PS4 and PS5. Reception was lukewarm, with reviews ranging from “Mixed to Average,” resulting in a 57 metascore on Metacritic. Initially offered as part of February’s PS Plus lineup, it became available for purchase on the PS Store for $29.99 before eventually going free-to-play in August.
