Xbox Game Pass is set to take a hit with the removal of Figment: Journey Into the Mind and at least five other titles on January 15, 2024. This is unusually high compared to the confirmed list of new arrivals for January 2025. As seasoned gamers might know, Xbox Game Pass updates its lineup twice a month, typically causing a shuffle in its offerings. This was evident on December 31, when popular titles like LEGO 2K Drive and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle bid farewell to the platform.
As we look ahead to mid-January, a fresh batch of games is getting the boot. The updated “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox app indicates that Common’hood, Escape Academy, Exoprimal, Figment: Journey Into the Mind, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and Those Who Remain will be departing. Among these, Escape Academy has been around the longest, having been a fixture since July 2022.
For those looking to capitalize on their Xbox Game Pass before these removals, there’s something to keep in mind. Most of these games can be fully experienced over a few days, making them perfect for achievement hunters. The exception here is Insurgency: Sandstorm, which requires a much larger investment due to its multiplayer nature.
It’s important to note that the “Leaving Soon” section doesn’t always present the full picture. More titles might exit the scene come January 15. The complete list is likely to be confirmed alongside January 2025’s new arrivals, ideally by January 7. That’s also the day players can expect Road 96 to hit the Game Pass library, following its prior announcement.
Zooming out a bit, only five games are confirmed for January 2025 so far. While it’s probable more will be added as we progress through the month, Xbox Game Pass is also poised to lose additional titles on January 31. The last time it added more than it subtracted in a single month was back in July 2024. This ongoing streak of losing more games than gaining is the longest in its history. As for upcoming entries, Road 96 will soon be joined by day-one releases of Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, all hitting the service between January 28 and 31.
With all these shifts, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate remains a shining beacon for gamers, offering a vast array of titles under a single subscription—an unparalleled value within the Xbox ecosystem.
