Famed handheld console manufacturer Ayaneo has unveiled its latest top-tier gadget, the Ayaneo 3. Building on the success of its predecessor, it maintains a familiar design and button configuration, but introduces several hardware upgrades.
According to details shared on Ayaneo’s blog, the Ayaneo 3 offers a choice between an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor and the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It also comes equipped with a seven-inch high-refresh rate display, available in either LCD or OLED HDR, providing an unmatched immersive experience. To offer gamers additional control, Ayaneo has integrated two more buttons on the back of the console.
However, the company has yet to disclose further specifics about the Ayaneo 3, such as its RAM, storage, and pricing. If we take a look back at its predecessor, the Ayaneo 2, it was available with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB. The starting price was $1,099, reaching up to $1,549 for the exclusive B.Duck model. Given this, it’s reasonable to expect similar configurations for the Ayaneo 3, potentially at a slightly higher price point.
What sets the Ayaneo 3 apart is that it’s among the first handheld consoles to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. While current gaming titles might not utilize the NPU embedded in this processor, its added four cores, Zen 5 architecture, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU nevertheless pack a powerful punch over the Ryzen 7 8840U processor. This makes it a stronger contender compared to some of the top PC gaming handhelds, many of which run on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The Ayaneo 3 is preparing to make its mark in an already bustling market filled with top-notch options. We anticipate the arrival of competitors like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two either by the end of the year or early 2025. It will be exciting to see how Ayaneo 3 distinguishes itself amidst these rivals and what kind of gaming experience it promises to deliver to fans of handheld consoles.
