If you’re one of those who enjoyed collecting the achievements in Okami HD, I’ve got some exciting news for you: the much-anticipated sequel to Okami is officially in the works! Check out this teasingly brief trailer that gives us a glimpse into what’s ahead.
During The Game Awards, we learned from Capcom that the sequel to Okami is happening. According to them, “The Okami sequel project is underway. Okami has long been celebrated for its distinctive world, moving narrative, and adventurous gameplay. We’re thrilled to announce that a new journey, capturing the spirit of Okami, is on the horizon.”
These whispers of a sequel started circulating a few years back when Ikumi Nakamura hinted at pitching the idea to Capcom. Nakamura was adamant about one condition—that Hideki Kamiya should return as the director if the sequel moved forward.
The developers wanted to temper our eagerness by saying, “It might be some time until you hear from us again, but we hope you are as excited as we are for this project.”
For now, we’re treated to just over a minute of an enchanting teaser trailer, and it’s confirmed that Hideki Kamiya is indeed back in the director’s chair with production set to kick off soon. That’s about all the details available right now, but what an atmospheric note to wrap up The Game Awards on, don’t you think? What’s your reaction to this reveal?
