Three weeks in, and the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy library is swinging into action with four iconic simian stars.
Following the pattern of the last couple of weeks, Donkey Kong Land III has joined the Game Boy library’s ranks. Originally launched in 1997, this title serves as the third installment in the Game Boy’s unique adaptation of the beloved Donkey Kong Country series. In Land III, players embark on an adventure with Dixie and Kiddy Kong as they race to uncover the “Lost World,” striving to outpace K. Rool, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong in the process.
This game stands out as one of the few instances where Donkey Kong isn’t a playable character or in need of rescue in his own series. Compared to its SNES counterpart, Country 3, Land III veers off course more significantly than its predecessors did.
For those using the app in Japan, you’ll find a special treat: the Game Boy Color re-release from 2000, which remains a regional exclusive, has made its appearance instead of the standard Game Boy version.
