Tired of hearing about “Dune Awakening” without a chance to dive in yourself? Well, hopefully you’re still up for some reading because we’ve got great news! The game is hosting a free open beta weekend from May 9 to May 12, so you’ll finally get the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
Now, access isn’t entirely open. To join in, you’ll need to wishlist the game before May 9 for a chance to play, or snag one of the many beta codes being distributed over the weekend. So, while it’s open, there’s a bit of a catch—think of it as leaving the door slightly ajar.
This beta timing coincides with the original launch date of May 15, which was postponed. Funcom decided to spend a little extra time perfecting every detail to ensure the game shines at full release.
During the beta, players can explore the first two regions, which easily encompass around 20 hours of gameplay. You’ll have the chance to check out several Research Facilities, experiment with early class abilities, and dabble in some PvP around ship crash sites. It’s a nice little preview of what’s to come. If you’re curious about our take, we’ve just released a preview today covering this specific segment of the game.
