Nintendo has highlighted the importance of exclusive games for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. This insight came as a response to shareholders curious about the future of new titles for the current Nintendo Switch once its successor becomes available in stores.
In addressing this query, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, mentioned, “We’ve already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as upcoming Nintendo Switch titles expected in 2025. With such a large audience still engaging with the Nintendo Switch, we’re eager to keep developing and releasing captivating games for it as long as there’s demand.”
Furukawa went on to emphasize, “However, exclusive games will be key when introducing any new hardware. With that considered, we’re looking into strategies to ensure that both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 offer games that our users will love.”
The company has planned a detailed presentation about the upcoming console during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 event. Fans can tune in on Wednesday, April 2, at 6 am PT / 9 am ET / 2 pm BST / 3 pm CEST.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a global release in 2025, specific launch dates are still under wraps.
