Imagine being able to tour a movie set right from where you’re sitting. Think about it: exploring all the sets, witnessing the stunts, and even seeing the actors in action. The best part? Director Eli Roth himself is your guide.
We’re thrilled to share an exciting new video filmed on the set of the highly anticipated video game adaptation, Borderlands. In partnership with Light Sail VR, Roth captured some amazing behind-the-scenes action with stars like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. And even though this footage is optimal in VR, it’s still pretty impressive when viewed in 2D.
“I’m a huge VR enthusiast and have been shooting with a GoPro 360 since 2018,” Roth revealed. “When the pandemic hit and visits to sets became impossible, I wanted fans to experience the essence of being on set as we recreated the extraordinary world of Borderlands. You’ll get a glimpse of how much our art department in Budapest constructed—the sets are incredible. You’ll be right next to the actors as they rehearse, and watch Blanchett and Greenblatt performing stunts like running and jumping from a collapsing truck bed. We collaborated with my friends at Light Sail VR to build a thrilling experience that immerses you right into the heart of the action. It truly captures what it was like to be among us in the wild universe of Borderlands.”
And here it is.
In Borderlands, Cate Blanchett stars as a legendary bounty hunter who returns to her home planet, Pandora, to find the missing daughter of the nefarious Atlas, portrayed by Edgar Ramírez. Along the way, she joins forces with an eclectic team of characters as they embark on a mission to unravel one of the planet’s greatest mysteries. The film features a stellar cast, including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. It’s set for release on August 9.
