Funcom has decided to push back the release of their upcoming game, Dune: Awakening, by a month, taking into account feedback they’ve gathered from their beta testing phase. Originally set to launch on May 15th, players can now expect to experience the game starting June 10th, as stated in an announcement on Funcom’s website.
Dune: Awakening invites players to compete for dominance over the desert world of Arrakis. In this story, the well-known hero, Paul Atreides, hasn’t been born, which keeps the empire from his drastic, empire-shaking decisions.
“The insights we’ve gained from our beta testers have been crucial in ensuring we deliver a high-quality game,” Funcom explained. They highlighted the importance of their thriving Discord community, where the developers maintain direct communication with players. This interaction helps in shaping Dune: Awakening into a stronger experience.
“We’ve realized that with some additional development time, we can address even more of the feedback we’ve received,” Funcom stated. “It’s not easy to push back the release date, and we understand everyone is eager to dive in, but these extra weeks are necessary. They’ll allow us to refine and enhance the game, promising a smoother journey from the very first day it’s available.”
Moreover, Funcom announced some exciting developments: “Thanks to this timeline shift, we’ll be hosting a large-scale beta weekend next month. This will open the doors for even more players to try the game and offer their input.” They promised to share more detailed plans soon, building anticipation for eager fans and testers alike.
