Players of Helldivers 2 might have been hoping for a major update this week, but what they got instead is a mission laced with significant Galactic War implications. If you’ve had enough of the purple Meridian death ball wreaking havoc on planets, now’s your chance to put a stop to it.
So far, this deadly force has devoured three planets—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and the most recent victim, Ivis. Players find themselves either mourning these losses or, in some cases, not caring too much because the whole death ball saga is starting to become a bit tiresome for some die-hard divers. Clearly, the time has come to halt its march towards Super Earth.
The most recent orders arrive on the heels of a victory on Wezen. This triumph enabled divers to establish an Exosuit Support Bay on the Democracy Space Station, effectively cutting exosuit cooldowns by a handy 35%.
According to information from “Center of Science astrophysicists on Fenrir III,” they’ve made significant strides towards launching the third and final phase of their plan to halt the Meridian Singularity. However, they require vast amounts of E-710 for further experimentation, particularly in the highly theoretical realm of Dark Energy manipulation.
High Command has given the green light for another limited expedition into the Gloom. This mission aims to advance our technology sufficiently to finally close the Meridian Wormhole. Should there be any extra E-710, it might be sold to support communal prosperity.
To free planet Nivel 43, secure this E-710, and crush the death ball, divers must face the same “Gloom-specific terminid strains” they encountered in previous foggy ventures. So, it’s time to gear up and face off against those formidable bugs again.
On a positive note, the community seems excited to head back into the Gloom. A post on the game’s subreddit exclaimed, “THERES ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION,” prompting a thread filled with players eager to crush more terminids. After all the recent battles with automatons and illuminates, this renewed enthusiasm is a welcome change.
