InZoi Studio is weighing the possibility of launching their popular life simulation game, InZoi, on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though the decision hinges on whether it’s technically feasible.
InZoi is known for its demanding graphics, which presents a significant challenge for adapting it to the Switch 2 platform. For now, the game is available on PC via Steam early access, with plans to extend to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Hyungjun Kim, the game director at InZoi Studio, recently shared the studio’s interest in bringing their hit game to the Nintendo Switch 2. Although the console won’t be hitting the market until June 5, plenty of third-party developers are already on board. While adding InZoi to this lineup seems promising, Kim advises fans to temper their excitement for now.
Bursting onto the gaming scene in March, InZoi has garnered positive feedback from both players and critics, even as it remains in its early access phase. The game has shown immense potential to rival the established Sims series by EA. The developers are keen on maintaining momentum by rolling out regular updates, offering gameplay enhancements, fixing bugs, and including new features. Fans have responded positively as many of these updates derive directly from player feedback.
InZoi Studio has already committed to launching the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. With the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal, there’s growing curiosity among fans about the possibility of playing InZoi on-the-go. In an interview with VideoGamer, Hyungjun Kim shared, “We aim to bring InZoi to various platforms. If optimizing for Switch 2 aligns with its capabilities, it presents a great opportunity for reaching a wider audience.”
However, the path isn’t entirely clear-cut. Due to InZoi’s graphically intensive nature, adapting it for the Nintendo Switch 2 might be problematic. As Kim points out, the major hiccup is that, “We don’t yet know the exact hardware specifications.” The director cites speculations that position the Switch 2’s performance at an RTX 2050 level, which falls short of InZoi’s recommended requirements. This suggests the game might struggle to operate smoothly on the switch.
Despite uncertainties surrounding InZoi’s Switch 2 adaptation, the upcoming console will indeed host other graphically demanding titles. A surprising announcement at the recent Direct showcase revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for Switch 2 at launch. Developer CD Projekt Red plans to utilize Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling to optimize performance, offering a choice between 30 FPS Quality Mode and 40 FPS Performance Mode for players.
So while fans eagerly await more news on InZoi’s potential Switch 2 debut, it’s clear the console is gearing up to handle some heavy hitters in its game lineup.
