In a recent update, Seattle-based gaming studio Jar of Sparks has let its team know that it’s hitting pause on its first game project in the search for a new publishing partner.
Jerry Hook, who founded the studio, shared the announcement on LinkedIn. He expressed pride in the dedication and progress the team has made so far. The studio, which kicked off in July 2024 with backing from the Chinese entertainment powerhouse NetEase, seems to have lost that publishing support for their debut game.
“Our team has been nothing short of passionate and innovative, taking bold steps to create something genuinely fresh and exciting for the gaming world,” Hook conveyed in his post.
Reflecting on their journey, Hook emphasized the pride in what they’ve built together. As they gear up for whatever comes next, team members are set to explore new horizons. Hook invited anyone on the lookout for top-tier, out-of-the-box thinkers to connect, recommending the skilled developers he’s had the pleasure of working alongside.
This development follows a similar pattern with another NetEase-supported studio, Worlds Untold, which also announced a pause on its first project back in November.
