Koei Tecmo, the well-known publisher behind the Dynasty Warriors and Atelier series, is gearing up for some significant shifts in its business strategy.
According to a translated shareholder briefing document from Automaton, Koei Tecmo plans to expand its workforce from 2,500 to 5,000 employees. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about positioning the company to meet new goals effectively.
The focus is moving away from the mobile gaming sector. The company believes that this market has hit its peak, and significant growth isn’t likely to happen there anymore. Instead, they are turning their attention toward developing AAA games. Koei Tecmo expects the console and PC game markets to rise, inspired by the huge audiences gathered by games like Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong.
Moreover, the company has launched a new in-house game studio and has made enhancements to its proprietary Katana Engine. These advancements are aimed at helping Koei Tecmo adapt to the evolving market landscape, ensuring they continue to produce top-quality games consistently.
