Meta has embarked on an exciting long-term partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), acclaimed as its new ‘Official Fan Technology Partner.’ This means we can expect to see an even closer fusion of UFC’s thrilling mixed martial arts events with Meta’s cutting-edge platforms like Quest.
The UFC is primed to harness Meta’s top-tier technology to engage its vast global audience in ways we’ve never seen before. This collaboration will leverage technologies including Meta AI, Meta Glasses, and Meta Quest, along with more familiar platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.
Furthermore, the UFC has appointed Meta as its ‘Official AI Glasses Partner.’ The plan is to explore innovative uses of these AI glasses at various UFC events, adding a fresh dimension to the spectator experience.
UFC President and CEO Dana White is enthusiastic about this partnership, stating, “Over the years, we’ve had great partners who’ve helped elevate the sport. But Mark and his capable team at Meta are set to impress UFC fans like never before. Meta’s brilliant minds are ready to redefine fan engagement. We’re already collaborating on innovative projects, such as a new fighter ranking system which I’m eager to unveil soon. The next few seasons promise exciting changes for our fans.”
An image capturing Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg at a UFC event in March highlights Zuckerberg’s genuine interest in the sport—he’s even dived into the world of Jiu Jitsu himself.
“I’m passionate about the sport and thrilled to work with the UFC to create new experiences for fans,” Zuckerberg remarked.
Adding to this synergy between Meta and UFC, Dana White has also joined Meta’s board of directors, along with other notable names like John Elkann from Exor and tech investor Charlie Songhurst.
On the Quest side of things, while details remain under wraps, it’s anticipated that we’ll see significant integration of UFC content. Expect dynamic brand activations in every Pay-Per-View and Fight Night, with brand placements in the iconic Octagon, unique broadcast features, and inventive in-arena experiences for fans.
The agreement also paves the way for Meta’s social platform Threads to air exclusive, original UFC content. A previously formed partnership in 2022 introduced 180-degree Fight Pass livestreams to Horizon Worlds on Quest, and this new deal might just be setting the stage for even more expansive integration and visibility of UFC content on the platform.
Stay tuned for more updates as these two giants unveil more about their groundbreaking partnership.
