Sanzaru Games, known for their work on the Asgard’s Wrath series, has rolled out the final content update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, which is exclusive to Quest. The team is now gearing up for their “next big thing.”
According to a report from MIXED, Sanzaru just released the last major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, the anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed 2019 Rift-exclusive game, Asgard’s Wrath.
The game’s twelfth and concluding ‘Cosmic Event’, ominously titled ‘The Long Winter’, began last week. It features a fresh batch of time-limited challenges each month, inviting players to earn points and unlock unique cosmetic items.
Launched in late 2023 for Quest 2 and other compatible headsets, Asgard’s Wrath 2 offers more than 60 hours of campaigning, not counting the additional time players might spend in its monthly Cosmic Events.
The game’s Community Manager shared on Sanzaru’s Discord channel, “This will be our final major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2. Expect fewer updates going forward, focused only on critical issues and bug fixes. We won’t be developing further new content for the game–we’re aware the community has been curious about this, so we wanted to be upfront.”
Moving on, the team mentions they’re “shifting focus and working on some AMAZING new projects. We’re looking forward to the time when we can finally share this next big chapter with our community.”
While it’s still uncertain what Sanzaru has lined up next, one thing is clear: the studio, which was acquired by Meta (formerly Facebook) in 2020, has been channeling its efforts exclusively into projects for the company’s XR headsets. With two major, well-received titles under their belt, their expertise in crafting RPGs is unmistakable and hints at exciting possibilities for the future.
