Xbox is gearing up for its next major focus, and it’s all about The Outer Worlds 2, the much-anticipated action RPG from Obsidian. Slated to be the star of the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase in June, this event follows previous headliners like Black Ops 6 last year and Starfield the year before that.
The recent announcement unveiled this exciting news, making Xbox the first to share specific plans for their major June event.
The Xbox Games Showcase is set to make its annual return this June, coinciding with the former E3 timeframe. Mark your calendars for the livestream on Sunday, June 8. While the announcement didn’t specify other games that will feature, it did confirm an in-depth exploration of The Outer Worlds 2 immediately after the main showcase.
Obsidian’s ambitious project takes over the prominent position previously held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, following a pattern that began with Starfield in 2023. The main event will spotlight upcoming titles from both first and third-party developers.
Interestingly, this year’s event will be entirely virtual, so the livestream is your only access point for all the updates. This shift means we won’t see Phil Spencer or other Xbox executives presenting live on stage. You can catch the stream at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UK, or 7pm CEST on Xbox’s official YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels.
As for The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, expect an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at its development at Obsidian along with a host of new gameplay footage and insights. There’s a good chance they’ll reveal the release date during the event as well.
