Minisforum has recently introduced a range of next-generation products powered by AMD’s Ryzen CPUs, specifically highlighting their new MoTD and Mini PC models that utilize the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" processor.
Introducing New AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" Products from Minisforum
At the "Japan IT Spring Week" event, Minisforum took the opportunity to show off its latest lineup incorporating AMD Ryzen CPUs. This selection includes MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, Mini PCs, and NAS systems, giving users diverse and flexible options.
Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: Built for Powerful Desktop Setups
Kicking off with the Minisforum "F1FGM," this motherboard continuation in the MoTD series features the newest CPU advances. Designed with an mATX form factor, it comes equipped with robust heatsinks covering the VRMs, M.2 slots, and the PCH, all neatly packed under an IO cover. As a worthy successor to the BD770i and BD790i series that housed Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs, this iteration upgrades to the cutting-edge Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" processors.
Users can configure the MoTD with the potent AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU. Leveraging 16 cores and 32 threads on the Zen 5 architecture, this chip reaches up to 5.4 GHz in boost mode, with a substantial 64 MB of L3 cache. Standard power is pegged at 55W, yet this mobile-grade powerhouse can be tuned up to 160W on this motherboard for a high-performance punch.
Options for configuration include an "X3D" variant, with cooling solutions implementing a vapor chamber baseplate—a necessity given the mobile-specific CPUs lack an integrated heat spreader. The motherboard features a 13-phase duet rail design VRM with 60A SPS power stages to support all this power.
The spec sheet doesn’t end there. The board packs four DDR5 DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 256 GB and speeds up to 8000 MHz. It uses the X870M chipset—another mobile-grade element—but akin to the B850 series performance-wise. There’s plenty of scope for expansion too, with two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, one of which operates at Gen5x4 speeds. You’ll also find two SATA III ports and the latest connectivity options like USB4, 5GbE LAN, Wi-Fi 7, alongside two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Power with Advanced IO
Complementing the lineup, the MS-A2 Mini PC also brings the AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs into the mix. Building on the MS-A1 series, which included Ryzen 8000G CPUs, this Mini PC integrates the most up-to-date IO features, including three M.2 slots (one adaptable for U.2), a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for low-profile card support.
The Mini PC comes with a different motherboard featuring two SO-DIMM slots allowing up to 96 GB of DDR5 memory at 5200 MT/s. Connectivity is top-notch with 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB 2.0 port, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and both DP and HDMI outputs.
Minisforum N5 PRO: A NAS with Power to Spare
Lastly, Minisforum launches the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS, featuring an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU with its 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M iGPU for solid performance. This NAS unit comes with five tool-free 3.5-inch drive bays, enabling easy install and removal. It’s designed for RAID configuration and can support up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs. It even provides a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for additional video interface needs.
Each drive bay accommodates up to 22 TB of HDD storage, and there are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (two Gen4x1 and one Gen4x2) included. For networking, it offers a 10 GbE port and a 5 GbE port, along with three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports rounding out the IO options.
Minisforum plans to release these innovative solutions in the coming months, so keep an eye out for further updates on availability and detailed specifications.
