The past few weeks have been a real struggle for Strategist players in Marvel Rivals. Healing is challenging enough, but trying to do it while Spider-Man swoops in to knock you back to spawn adds a whole new level of difficulty. In a meta where the fastest characters also pack the most punch, Strategist players are working overtime just to keep their heads above water. Thankfully, the mid-season patch might change all that.
In a recent Dev Talk on Friday, NetEase openly addressed the ongoing support crisis from the beginning of season 2. This season has seen highly mobile heroes, like Iron Fist, taking center stage. As a result, Strategists are under tremendous pressure, having to keep a vigilant eye on their teammates’ health while carefully managing their abilities and staying mindful of their positioning on the map, according to NetEase.
To ease the burden on support players, NetEase has announced plans to increase their damage output, making them more of a threat and opening up more team composition options. Groot and Captain America will become easier targets, and Spider-Man’s notorious uppercut will be harder to pull off.
The update is slated for an early May release, coinciding with Ultron’s addition to the lineup. According to a sneak peek in an official video, he’ll be joining as a Strategist.
With NetEase rolling out new heroes at such a rapid pace, these reactive patches may be crucial for maintaining balance. While they aim to be cautious about making major shifts, they’re starting with small tweaks to empower support players, allowing them to fight back without spoiling the fun for those heroes designed to track them down.
