Since Iron Meat took off like a rocket in September, the dedicated team over at Retroware has been buzzing with energy, gearing up for some exciting content updates to their beloved modern-retro game.
The first big update just hit Xbox, and it’s packed to the brim with fresh goodies for players to enjoy. So if you’ve been itching for more, you’re in for a treat!
### Mirror, Mirror
Let’s dive into one of the most anticipated features: Mirror Mode. This nifty addition lets you replay all the levels, but with a twist—you’re heading left this time! You’d be surprised how flipping the x-axis can turn everything, from enemy encounters to boss fights, into a whole new ball game. Plus, unlocking this mode is as simple as finishing the game on any difficulty for the first time.
### Red Rapid Fire
Next up is the all-new automatic Supercharge upgrade, a.k.a. the “third” tier of weapon upgrades. When this is activated, all your projectiles get a sleek red makeover, distinct from the usual blue or green. For those who’ve maxed out their guns, picking up a third copy grants an automatic Supercharge upgrade, adding a dash of red to your arsenal’s firepower!
### My 1UPs, Thank You
Here’s some news that’s bound to please players: now, any extra lives you earn while battling through a level will carry over to the next one. So, end a level with more lives than you started with? Those extra lives are yours to keep!
### Visual Enhancements to Level Backgrounds
The game’s visual storytelling is getting a boost with enhanced backgrounds for certain levels. These tweaks introduce new narrative touches, such as a helicopter swooping down in the Forest or Meat meteors crashing spectacularly on the Train. It’s details like these that enrich the world of Iron Meat, deepening your immersion.
### Other Updates
Besides smoothing out some minor bugs, we’ve also made several gameplay adjustments. Notable changes include a boost to the damage from “E”, “U”, and “M” guns, and extra Meat added to sections of the Moon Base. We’ve reworked the MI-24 helicopter boss fight for clarity and adjusted aspects of all levels for fairness, like making Meat worms killable the second they appear on Base. These are just a few of the subtle tweaks enhancing your gaming experience.
This update is just a taste of what’s to come for Iron Meat. We’re eager to keep the momentum going with even more content on the horizon. If you haven’t yet, it’s a great time to jump into Iron Meat, now available for purchase!
