NVIDIA has recently rolled out significant updates to its software lineup, including a hotfix for their latest GeForce display drivers and adjustments to tackle a pesky "NVIDIA App" glitch.
NVIDIA Rolls Out Updates to Boost User Experience, Primarily Targeting Performance Hiccups
In keeping with their swift response tradition, NVIDIA—often called Team Green—has once again addressed user concerns efficiently. Let’s dive into the latest corrections the company has delivered. They’ve launched a new driver hotfix, specifically the GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 566.45. This stems from the Game Ready driver updates but tackles particular issues that didn’t quite warrant a complete driver revision, hence its classification as a "hotfix." Here’s a brief look at what’s been resolved with this update:
What’s Fixed in This Hotfix:
- [Indiana Jones and the Great Circle] Some users have reported occasional micro-stuttering [5015165]
- Enhanced stability for Ubisoft games running on the Snowdrop engine [4914325]
You can grab the GeForce Hotfix display driver version 566.45 for Windows 10 x64 / Windows 11 x64 here.
Earlier, we had high hopes that NVIDIA would address the performance stuttering issues plaguing the "NVIDIA App" with a new patch. Instead, they opted for a temporary fix by disabling the "Game Filter" option by default in version 11.0.1. This is perceived as a stopgap measure for the time being. For those not in the loop, we recently covered how the NVIDIA App’s overlay was causing a noticeable dip in performance—up to 15%—for many users due to settings clashing with various games.
While turning off the "Game Filter" feature might solve the issue for now, we’re looking forward to a more permanent solution from NVIDIA. It’s anticipated that a comprehensive update might only drop next month, so for users currently facing this performance challenge, turning off this setting seems to be the best bet at present.
