Pico 4 Ultra is stepping up its game this Black Friday with an enticing offer that includes Pico Motion Trackers, three popular games, and a free month of VRChat Plus, all thanks to ByteDance’s holiday deal.
The package includes the thrilling titles Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, Pistol Whip, and Synth Riders. But don’t sleep on this offer—it wraps up after December 2. Typically priced at €90/£80, the Pico Motion Trackers attach to your ankles, adding a whole new dimension of leg tracking to compatible games like Blade & Sorcery: Nomad and VRChat. Meta has indicated it won’t be launching a similar feature unless it becomes an overwhelming hit.
This sweet deal is accessible in every region where Pico 4 Ultra is available—just keep in mind that North America isn’t on that list yet.
Recently, we had the chance to test drive the Pico 4 Ultra alongside the Pico Motion Trackers. Our focus was to compare them against the Meta Quest 3. Here’s what we discovered.
In markets where it’s available, ByteDance is marketing the Pico 4 Ultra as a premium alternative to the Meta Quest 3. It boasts 4GB more RAM, superior resolution passthrough, faster charging, and longer battery life. During our hands-on session, we found the headset to be notably comfortable. The passthrough feature bested the Quest 3 in some aspects but fell short in others. The lenses surpassed those in the Quest 3S but couldn’t quite match up to the Quest 3.
However, when it comes to content, ByteDance seems to have shifted gears. Unlike what we saw with Pico 4, there’s less emphasis on VR gaming. The company nixed a competitor to Beat Saber, passed on its potential exclusive Just Dance VR to Meta, and hasn’t spotlighted any major exclusive releases. Although the Pico Store features a fair share of Quest games, the gaps in their library are apparent. ByteDance is shifting focus toward establishing Pico OS as a formidable spatial computing platform and is reportedly working on a rival to Apple’s Vision Pro.
Even with this shift, the Black Friday deal presents substantial value for those who have been eyeing the Pico 4 Ultra. Plus, the leg-tracking capability offered by Pico Motion Trackers is a feature you won’t find on Meta’s standalone devices.
