It almost feels like a blink since Red Dead Redemption 2 made its comeback to PS Plus, challenging all of us to finally conquer that vast open-world Western adventure. But as October approaches, this blockbuster title is gearing up to exit the PlayStation subscription service once again, along with a lineup of other popular games.
Just recently, the “Last Chance” section on the PSN store for PS5 and PS4 was refreshed, revealing which games will soon be departing from the PS Plus Extra library. Red Dead Redemption 2, which rejoined the service just this past May, is on that list. What adds a pinch to the heart is the departure of Kingdom Hearts—I had just started introducing my kids to the first game last weekend! Here’s a complete list of the 16 games bidding farewell in October:
– Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)
– Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition (PS4 | PS5)
– Teardown (PS5)
– Chorus (PS4 | PS5)
– Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4)
– What Remains of Edith Finch (PS4 | PS5)
– Overcooked! 2 (PS4)
– Superliminal (PS4 | PS5)
– Blasphemous (PS4)
– Moving Out (PS4)
– Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX (PS4)
– Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (PS4)
– Kingdom Hearts III (PS4)
– Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory (PS4)
– Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. Maxiboost On (PS4)
– Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising (PS4 | PS5)
– The Sims 4 City Living [DLC]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ exit is another notable one. Blasphemous and What Remains of Edith Finch are cherished gems, and Teardown offers a surprisingly delightful experience with its voxel destruction mechanics. Red Dead Redemption 2’s stint was a brief one, lasting only six months. Meanwhile, the latest wave of Square Enix RPGs exiting the service includes the beloved Kingdom Hearts series.
It’s interesting how players have become adept at predicting which games will leave PS Plus based on common six, 12, and 18-month deal cycles that publishers typically follow. There were whispers that maybe Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Humanity could be next, but they’re holding firm on PS Plus, at least for now. So, if you haven’t dived into these titles yet, take this as your six-month head start.
