Exciting news for fans of visual novels: Ever17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity are set to make their way to the Nintendo Switch. Mark your calendars for March 6, 2025, if you’re in Japan. And while the release is currently confirmed only for Japan, English speakers can rejoice, as the games will support English among other languages.
These titles are part of the renowned Infinity series and originally hit the scene back in 2002 and 2000, respectively. What makes them noteworthy is the involvement of Kotaro Uchikoshi, the brilliant mind behind the Zero Escape and AI: The Somnium Files series. His storytelling prowess undoubtedly adds an intriguing layer to these games.
As for the Switch versions, both games are getting a full HD makeover. Ever17 already had a remake on Xbox 360, but this Switch edition will revert to 2D. Don’t worry, though, as you’d still enjoy the new costumes from the remake and a fresh 2D opening movie. Plus, those additional scenarios from the remake will also be packed in.
Here’s a brief look at what each game offers:
Ever17:
Set in the spring of 2017, we follow college student Takeru Kuranari’s visit to the underwater theme park, Remiyu. An unexpected accident leaves Takeru trapped there. With only 170 hours and 17 minutes to spare before the park succumbs to water pressure, he joins forces with the mysterious Tsugumi and the guide, Yu, to find a way out. Amid the depths of the ocean, they face the ultimate question: are dreams and hopes still alive, or are there deeper secrets waiting to be uncovered? The answer lies with you.
Never 7:
On April 1, 2019, Makoto Ishihara wakes up from a haunting dream where a girl met a dire fate. His journey to a remote island for a seminar turns into an unimaginable nightmare. As April 6th unfolds, unease spirals into despair, culminating in tragedy. When tragic events are thwarted, forgotten memories unlock all the mysteries surrounding them. In this gripping sci-fi suspense romance, emotions entwine as you strive to break free from the clutches of time and bring eternal sadness to a close.
