After facing a few setbacks, Robert Pattinson, the actor behind Batman’s iconic mask, finally seems to have a better grasp on what “The Batman: Part 2” is all about.
The sequel was originally slated for release this year, but last December, it was pushed back significantly by an entire year to October 1, 2027. This delay stemmed from director Matt Reeves not having the script polished and ready, prompting drastic schedule changes. Last month, Reeves expressed his ambition to surprise audiences with the sequel and confirmed plans to begin production this year; however, he kept plot details under wraps. At long last, it appears that at least Robert Pattinson himself, the Dark Knight, now knows the direction the movie will take.
During an interview with ExtraTV at the premiere of “Mickey 17,” Pattinson was quizzed about his involvement in the sequel. Chuckling, he revealed, “I finally know what it’s about now. Matt is really meticulous with his writing, and it’s very cool. I’m super excited.” His remark, made with a laugh, hinted that Reeves was so cautious with the storyline that even Pattinson might not have been fully clued in until recently. It’s a relief to know that the franchise’s leading man can now mentally gear up for the next phase.
Earlier this year, discussions sparked about whether Pattinson could take up a dual role as the main DC Universe Batman alongside his part in Reeves’ standalone saga. However, those rumors were swiftly squashed by Andy Muschietti, director of “Batman: The Brave and the Bold.” So, it seems fans won’t be seeing Pattinson’s character integrated into the broader DCU anytime soon.
