Ever since Forza Horizon 5 made its debut on the PS5, it feels like the doors have swung wide open for Xbox games to cross over to Sony’s gaming platform. Lately, there’s been a buzz in the gaming community: whispers of Marcus Fenix and his epic battle against the Locust Horde making a splash on PlayStation consoles this year. But it looks like this isn’t just any release—fans can anticipate a bundle of the first three Gears of War games heading to both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
### Gears of War Collection Heads to PS5 with the Original Trilogy
Reliable sources, like the well-known leaker eXtas1s, are stirring the pot with claims that a Gears of War collection is in the pipeline. Although there’s no firm date on when we might hear an official announcement, eXtas1s assures us it’ll be available across multiple platforms from the get-go. What’s more, it looks like the game will embrace cross-play, meaning gamers on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation can unite in battle.
“I can disclose information about the Gears Collection because it has taken considerable effort to verify its existence, yet it seems real, and I can say that once it gets announced, it will launch as a multiplatform title right away,” eXtas1s shared, with ResetEra member Rychu translating. “Again, when these sorts of remasters come out, they will be cross-platform, letting players engage simultaneously. The one aspect still unclear is whether there will be a Switch version, but players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation should have no problem connecting.”
This isn’t the first instance of Gears of War being linked to a PS5 release. Just recently, Jez Corden of Windows Central speculated that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might arrive on Sony’s console by 2025.
But, as with any rumor, it’s wise to remain cautiously optimistic. Despite numerous insiders and leakers seemingly backing each other’s claims, the world of game development is unpredictable. Plans can change overnight, rendering all current assumptions void. Until there’s an official announcement, all we can do is wait and hope for the best.
