StrikerVR, a leading player in the haptic peripheral sector for VR, has just announced the pre-order availability of the Mavrik, a new consumer-focused VR gun.
This new haptic gun, designed to work seamlessly with both Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets, is open for pre-orders with a price tag of $499. Interestingly, the company plans to ship around 1,000 units just in time for Christmas, with wider distribution kicking off on March 15th, 2025.
Building on the success of their Pro version geared towards location-based entertainment, the Mavrik brings that immersive recoil and tactile feedback to homes. The package includes a picatinny accessory rail and a Quest controller mount, ensuring the headset tracks the haptic blaster in six degrees-of-freedom (6DOF).
Despite being significantly more affordable than the $950 Mavrik-Pro, the device’s widespread use hinges on game support. It doesn’t work with all games straight away. Game developers will need to enable compatibility with their Quest 3 titles.
Upon purchase, the Mavrik will include three games: Tower Tag from Steinfatt GmbH, a tactical esports experience; Laser Limbo, a mixed-reality FPS by freeroam.ar; and a mysterious new title still under wraps.
StrikerVR isn’t stopping there. They’re working closely with developers to grow the list of supported titles, with new game releases lined up for 2025.
Looking ahead, StrikerVR plans to roll out an integrated tracking upgrade in a new removable top plate. They’re also aiming for the ‘Made for Meta’ certification, joining the ranks of recognized third-party accessories like D-Link’s VR Air Bridge and Zenni’s prescription lenses for Meta Quest 3S/2.
On the product page, you’ll find details about what comes with the Mavrik. It includes the blaster, a left controller mount, a Power Adapter for US/EU/UK, and a USB-C charging cable. However, specific details on battery life or the type of haptic engines remain under wraps.
