Halfbrick Studios, together with Ian Fitz, the original mind behind The Thrill of the Fight, have just unveiled the eagerly anticipated sequel to their widely-loved boxing simulation game. Fans can now experience it on Quest in Early Access.
This next chapter, The Thrill of the Fight 2, marks a complete overhaul of the original title and is available for users of Quest headsets, including the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. While the first game focused entirely on player versus environment (PvE) skirmishes, this sequel kicks off its journey with one of the most awaited features: online player versus player (PvP) boxing matches.
“In this early phase of release, we’re focusing on bringing multiplayer modes to the forefront, allowing those eager for online competition to dive right in,” said Halfbrick Studios. “We’re actively working on single-player content and plan to roll out more enhancements to multiplayer as the early access phase progresses.”
The journey doesn’t stop here. The developers have plans stretching into 2025, with promises of introducing single-player content that includes AI opponents with varying behaviors and appearances, along with additional training modes and much more. Expect regular updates during the Early Access period that will steadily enrich the immersive play experience they aim to deliver.
Currently, players can enjoy customizing their avatars, engaging in skill-based matchmaking in PvP mode, and experiencing realistic boxing physics. The studio assures this sequel captures another level of “realistic boxing feel.”
Also new to The Thrill of the Fight 2 is a spectator camera feature. This allows viewers to catch your matches in real-time, through a ‘live sports’ style feed on a connected PC.
