Though it’s been a rough ride for GameStop over the years, they still manage to make a splash during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. My local GameStop shut down in 2021, and I genuinely miss popping in to chat with the staff about the latest games. There’s really something special about connecting with people who share your love for gaming. And with some GameStop locations bringing back midnight launches, it brings to mind those exciting times when we’d all queue up together just to grab a new game like Halo 3 the moment it dropped. Those were some of the best moments in gaming culture, filled with anticipation and camaraderie.
GameStop is ready with some enticing Black Friday video game deals, and if you don’t mind snagging a used copy, you could save a significant amount. However, not every deal stands out compared to competitors. Take the 50% off deal on Final Fantasy XVI for instance; it’s been flying off the shelves all week, but GameStop’s price is still $5 higher than Amazon’s. But don’t worry; many deals, such as Tomb Raider I-III Remaster and Sea of Stars, match what Best Buy offers. We’ve got our eyes on all the deals and have compiled an exhaustive list of the best Black Friday deals of 2024, spanning beyond just video games.
Now, let’s dive into some of GameStop’s top Black Friday offerings. One hot ticket item is the X-Men ’97 Magneto Helmet. It’s been marked down by a hefty 55% and has been hugely popular on our IGNDeals platforms. If you’ve been eyeing a cosplay-ready Magneto helmet that’s both display-friendly and comfortable to wear, this is probably one of GameStop’s best deals this Black Friday.
As for game deals priced at $39.99, the selection isn’t overwhelming just yet. Lies of P seems to be the standout title, but keep an eye out as this list might expand as the days go by—though nothing’s set in stone.
Moving to the $29.99 bracket, now we’re talking. Despite what it might initially seem, some games priced here are even cheaper. Highlights include Mortal Kombat 1, Sea of Stars, and the stellar Atari 50: The Anniversary Collection Extended Edition.
And finally, the $19.99 range, which I think offers the best value. A decent selection of $20 games is on sale this Black Friday, with Hogwarts Legacy, Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition, Lords of the Fallen, and the Tomb Raider remaster leading the charge. But hey, that’s just my personal pick — you might find other surprises that suit your taste.
In the plushie department, don’t miss out on the Sonic the Hedgehog Ice Cream plushie during the buy one, get one 50% off deal. It’s a fun nod to the classic bubblegum-eyed treat, and there are plenty of other characters to choose from, like Kuromi, Gengar, and Squishmallows.
For Nintendo fans, GameStop offers Black Friday bundles for the Switch featuring Mario Kart. Pro members can enjoy an extra $25 off, which isn’t bad for those who’ve waited to grab a console. These bundles have been around for quite a while, though, so if you’ve had your eye on one, now might be the time to take the plunge.
If you’re eyeing games on GameStop’s sale list, now’s a good time to make a move. The range of offerings should continue to expand, though grabbing that Sonic plushie sooner rather than later might be wise before it runs out. If you’re on the lookout for a PS5 deal, it might be worth holding off for now as it’s not listed yet, but Sony has announced upcoming Black Friday discounts. And don’t forget, as you hunt for holiday gifts, GameStop also features in our best gift cards guide.
