Ubisoft Addresses Significant Leak of Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Despite facing a couple of delays, some gamers have surprisingly gotten their hands on Assassin’s Creed Shadows almost a month before its scheduled launch. In response, Ubisoft has stepped in with a request to those early birds: please keep those juicy spoilers under wraps. They emphasize that the current version folks have is not a reflection of the polished final product.

Earlier in the week, word spread that a few lucky players in the U.S. were already diving into the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, well before its official debut on March 20, 2025. This unexpected availability cropped up through various auction sites, where physical copies were changing hands. Some enthusiastic players didn’t waste a second before sharing their adventures on platforms like Twitch, and imagery from the game started making rounds online. Ubisoft swiftly addressed the situation, urging everyone who has gotten ahead of the curve to refrain from leaking any details.

“We’re aware that some players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its intended release,” Ubisoft mentioned on X. “Our team is still in the process of finalizing the game with essential patches, so any content shared might not showcase the ultimate quality we are striving for.”

They continued, “It’s a shame about the leaks as they can dampen the thrill for others waiting patiently. We’re grateful for the community’s effort to curb spoilage. Please stay under the radar and keep watch for more official updates from us. March 20 will be here before you know it!”

The journey to release has been quite a ride for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, encountering multiple hurdles along the way. Initially, it was slated to hit shelves on November 15, 2024, but that date was pushed back to February 14, 2025. Another delay followed as Ubisoft took onboard community feedback, eventually landing on the March 20, 2025 release.

Adding to the spoiler drama, last month the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Steam page inadvertently spilled the beans on the Claws of Awaji DLC. This expansion promises a new journey to a different region, offering players an extra ten hours of gameplay, alongside fresh weapon types, skills, gear, and abilities.
