Destiny 2 players have been noticing something intriguing recently: unreleased weapons from the upcoming Episode Heresy, possibly linked to Act 2, are unexpectedly dropping during various activities. Episode Heresy seems to have gotten off to a more exciting start compared to its predecessors, Echoes and Revenant, largely thanks to fresh content and significant changes to fan-favorite activities like Trials of Osiris.
Yet, just like prior episodes, Heresy hasn’t been immune to bugs, which have left the community feeling a bit frustrated. Players have pointed out several hiccups, including legacy activities like Onslaught: Salvation not working properly, as well as glitches involving invisible weapons and malfunctioning buffs. The latest bug seems a bit different, though — it’s actually offering players a pleasant surprise.
The Destiny 2 subreddit has been buzzing with posts about unexpected weapon drops. Players like Hedgyyyyyy have been sharing snapshots of these unreleased items, which seem to be tied to Episode Heresy’s Act 2. So far, the collection includes an intriguing Void fusion rifle dubbed Afterlight, a kinetic grenade launcher called Boondoggle Mk. 55, and a Void energy bow named Anamnesis.
Even though these weapons appear as ‘???’ in the Destiny Item Manager, they’re fully operational and even come with special perks. The glitch seems to be linked to the Episode Heresy feature called the Tomb of Want. Some players have found that leaving one box empty while filling the other with Episodic Weapons in the Tomb of Want can trigger these drops. Others have added Essence of Desire into the mix. However, there’s no guaranteed method, as it seems to involve a bit of randomness.
For now, players are left wondering how Bungie plans to respond to these early drops. The developers are already swamped with fixing myriad game issues, from the aforementioned bugs to the challenge of rebalancing overpowered gear like the now mighty Hunter’s Radiant Dance Machines leg armor.
Destiny 2 remains a game of surprises and challenges, continuing to offer players a dynamic universe to explore, all while the developers work tirelessly to balance new content with ongoing fixes. As players continue to engage with the game’s vast and immersive world, moments like these serve as a reminder of the unexpected twists that make Destiny 2 a beloved favorite in the gaming community.
