Right now, I find myself in a bit of a waiting game, much like I imagine many others are. We’re all eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Switch 2 Direct, but wow, does this anticipation seem to drag on forever. To pass the time this weekend, I’ve decided to dive into Faith: The Unholy Trinity. It’s supposed to be a quick playthrough, and I can’t resist those eerie, retro vibes that it promises. Besides that, I might revisit Pokémon HeartGold—just because! I’m looking for something to hold my attention through February and March, and it’s been ages since I truly got lost in a mainline Pokémon adventure.
I’m heading to the Pokémon EUIC this weekend, which means my gaming time will be a bit restricted. However, I can’t go without a little personal prep, so I’ve got my 3DS and a copy of Pokémon X ready to keep me entertained. This generation is such a standout! Plus, I’m already racking up those StreetPass hits, and who knows? I might gather some more puzzle pieces while I’m at it. If I manage to squeeze in some extra gaming during the evenings, my partner and I have been working our way through It Takes Two. We’re nearly at the finish line, so wrapping that up would be a great bonus.
After clearing quite a few games last week, I’m eager to jump into some new escapades. My next challenge is FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, which I aim to complete before Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition hits the shelves. Guns of Fury caught my eye with its intriguing blend of Metal Slug and metroidvania elements. Meanwhile, X-Out: Resurfaced continues to offer a unique "euro shmup" experience, a refreshing break from my extensive collection of Japanese shmups on the Switch. I’m also diving back into FreeSpace 2, exploring the insanely impressive Inferno mod—the closest we’ll get to a true sequel in the series. The standout for me this week is Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog. As a lifelong fan of anime and sci-fi, it’s practically tailor-made for me. They might not make them like this often, but when they do, they’re incredible.
I’m deep into the final phases of Metal Gear Solid and plan to wrap it up this weekend. Listening to some older Retronauts podcasts has me itching to revisit Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I think I have it on Steam? It’s definitely on my Staff of Kings Wii disc too, so I might just find myself with a Wiimote in one hand and a cold drink in the other while I explore. I had this game when I was a kid, but I never got far back then. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
