Recently, id Software gave us a fresh glimpse into the Cosmic Realm, a newly unveiled area from their much-anticipated game, Doom: The Dark Ages. Interestingly, Microsoft chose to unveil this level through a post on the PlayStation Blog, leading to some grumbling among fans loyal to the Xbox platform.
### PlayStation Scores the First Preview of Xbox’s Doom: The Dark Ages’ Cosmic Realm
According to Push Square, id Software aimed to offer PlayStation users a unique sneak peek before Doom: The Dark Ages officially hits the shelves in May. Game Director Hugo Martin shared insights into this Lovecraft-inspired dimension on PlayStation’s Blog, accompanied by a captivating new trailer. Curiously, the trailer was released exclusively on PlayStation’s YouTube channel. Take a look:
With that said, there’s not much reason for anyone to be too bothered. The Cosmic Realm will be accessible across all platforms when Doom: The Dark Ages launches. Plus, the trailer is on YouTube, which means it’s open for anyone to watch. The uproar seems a bit unnecessary, to be honest.
In the midst of this, Martin has made some ambitious statements about Doom: The Dark Ages, claiming it to be “the best Doom game we’ve ever made.”
He elaborates on the Cosmic Realm, saying, “One of them is totally unique for a Doom game, a space we’ve never been to but a world we’ve wanted to incorporate into the Doom universe for a while: the Cosmic Realm. You will bear witness to the cyclopean architecture of this Lovecraftian dimension as you explore its darkest secrets and battle its most insane enemies.”
Martin continues, “An unholy union between Hell and the Cosmic Realm has been formed. You’re going to have to experience the story to find out why—but this partnership has given birth to a new host of adversaries for the Slayer to confront.”
Doom: The Dark Ages is set for release on May 15 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you opt for the Premium Edition, you’ll snag access starting May 13.
