SEGA is all set to drop Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 21st for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 users.
This time, the game features the beloved Goro Majima as the central figure in a thrilling story set beyond the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Prepare to dive into the vibrant and unpredictable action on Hawaii’s tropical seas. The game invites players aboard the Goromaru for intense combat sequences and a plethora of exciting minigames.
Players will encounter an intriguing mix of fresh faces, with characters brought to life by an impressive lineup of actors such as First Summer Uika, Kenji Matsuda, and Munetaka Aoki, among others.
Story
In an intriguing twist, Goro Majima, once a feared yakuza icon, finds himself on a treasure quest, following an unexpected bout of amnesia. Six months after his alliance with Kiryu in a climactic showdown at the Millennium Tower, Majima is discovered washed ashore with the debris of a boat on an isolated island. Lacking any recollection, even of his own name, he bands together with Noah, a young local who rescues him. They embark on a daring journey to uncover Majima’s lost history, unaware that they’re stepping into a chaotic world where foes battle for treasure of legendary status.
Push Combat to the Extreme with Two Battle Styles
Majima comes equipped with not just his famed Mad Dog style—known for its lightning speed—but introduces players to his Sea Dog style, arming him with a cutlass and classic pirate gear.
In Mad Dog style, Majima fuses quick punches, kicks, and knife slashes, dispatching foes with efficiency. Alternatively, Sea Dog style allows him to embody the true essence of a pirate, using dual cutlasses and three sidearms to leave enemies in ruins.
The game features the innovative Madness Gauge, where Majima can call upon dark deities to sway the tide of battle. These powerful allies require the dark treasures—known as Dark Instruments—which players must claim from rival pirate crews they defeat.
Pirate Battles
Set against the backdrop of the Hawaiian Islands, the game pits conflicting interests where players must forge alliances with their crew and fend off rival nautical villains.
Players will captain the Goromaru on exploration voyages. As they chart the ocean, they’ll discover lighthouses, hidden treasure islands, and a variety of other sites. But stay alert! Dangerous marauders look to challenge you to pirate battles. It’s a strategic dance of maneuvering through enemy fire and unleashing your own barrage of cannonballs to disable their ship. Once achieved, lead your crew in boarding their vessel to claim victory!
To dominate these pirate skirmishes, players need to modify their ship, smartly deploy their forces, and bolster their crew. With over 100 recruitable seafarers and various ship modifications available—from design and decoration to armor and enhanced cannons—the customization options are expansive.
Minigames
The fun doesn’t stop at combat; players can indulge in diverse activities like Karaoke, Dragon Kart, and Outfits, among other engaging minigames
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii promises to be a thrilling new chapter in the series’ saga, packed with action, adventure, and everything fans love about the franchise.
